The Future Is Written In Code, Freeport Grand Bahama

Updated: Aug 18, 2021

The U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board are pleased to announce that Aaron Keith Saunders of Clearly Innovative Inc. has received a Fulbright Specialist Program award. Mr. Saunders will complete a project at Office of the Prime Minister – Grand Bahama in the Bahamas that aims to exchange knowledge and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S. and overseas through a variety of educational and training activities within Computer Science and Information Technology [link]

I spent the last five weeks in Freeport Grand Bahama as a Fulbright Program Specialist working with the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama, Bahama Technical & Vocational Institue, and Aliv to bring a Mobile App Training Program to the community. Bringing technology programs to communities has been my passion long before since I created the Inclusive Innovation Incubator where I've trained hundreds of underrepresented entrepreneurs. I appreciated the opportunity to bring my expertise to Bahamas and plan to use this experience to further enhance the program offerings not only at home in the US but also in other international communities where technology training programs are often lacking in underserved communities.

If you are interested in partnering with Inclusive Innovation Incubator regarding our programming and services, please email to schedule a call.

This Fulbright program focused on creating technical capital on the island and providing support for individuals interested in starting a tech-enabled business using mobile applications. If this sounds familiar it is because it sounds like the underlying premise of the work we do at Inclusive Innovation Incubator through our FutureIsWrittenInCode programs where we have taught technical classes for the last three years. We have covered game development, web development, IOS development, and more so the opportunity to bring our program to the Caribbean was exciting.

We were originally intending on teaching one mobile app course but due to circumstances we quickly pivoted to offering an Intro to Web Development Course and a more advanced course that combined Web Development and Mobile Development using Ionic Framework.

We completed the program and have ongoing conversations with BTVI about continuing the relationship as well as ongoing discussions with a founder on how to bring his product to market and another potential business partner to bring all of the Inclusive Innovation Incubator Programs to the Bahamas.

Here is a video with some testimonials from some of the students.
