2015 Year in Review



As we enter into the new year, we are taking a moment to look back at major milestones for Clearly Innovative. This list is in no particular order.

15.) New Clearly Innovative Address

Our headquarters is now located in the City Center neighborhood at 1100 H Street NW Washington, D.C.

14.) 47th NAACP Image Awards: Another Mobile App and Bigger Expectations for 2016


Our first major push of 2015 was the 46th NAACP Image Awards mobile app.

In 2015, we partnered with the NAACP Image Awards for a second time to build their Image Awards show mobile app. Our continued success with the Image Awards app lead to further digital strategy talks so for the 47th NAACP Image Awards, we’ve designed and built a brand new member-based nominee and voting website as well as a promotional website, and the 47th NAACP Image Awards mobile app for their February 5th show that will be available soon.

13.) CRVIII: An Inclusive Digital Space for Incubating Tech Creativity and Innovation


Web and mobile platforms allowing more underserved communities to collaborate on tech & startup ideas

CRVIII Inc. came to us with the goal of creating a web and mobile presence that targets underserved communities to collaborate on tech & startup ideas in a digital space. This past summer, we helped CRVIII achieve this goal with an easy to navigate content rich website featuring articles on the latest in tech and entrepreneurship. We also developed an accompanying mobile app built with Ionic Framework available for iOS & Android phones.

12.) American Red Cross (Orderhouse.com): An Easier Online Shopping Experience

The American Red Cross online store that provides customers with mobile accessibility and provides Red Cross with analytics for better consumer behavior insight.

11.) Queens Public Library: Continued Mobile & Tablet Support for One of the Largest Library Systems in the World


We launched new features for the Queens Public Library mobile and tablet applications.

  • Provided patrons an array of different payment options to choose from for various library fees

  • Improved the cloud based service situation to be more efficient

  • Enabled the ability to make several back-end changes that would not require users to update the app after every change

10.) Moonlighting App: Developed a New Set of User-Focused Features


Moonlighting Mobile App

Moonlighting is an on-demand service for making money and getting jobs done and we launched new features for the application this year.

  • Developed an invoicing tool

  • Implemented a new interface design for the jobs feed

  • Added functionality for users to create and save job alerts

4.) Chase Bank 2015 Mission Main Street Grant

Clearly Innovative is deeply committed to tech inclusion and tech education. In 2015, we won a $100K Mission Main Street grant to amplify our tech inclusion efforts through our education program, Luma Lab.

3.) Howard University

Our CEO Aaron K. Saunders finished his second semester teaching at Howard University; a hybrid Computer Science and Entrepreneurship course through the university’s business school.

2.) Diversity in Tech
